Justin is a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy with 17 years of clinical experience. This equates to over 30,000 hours of direct patient care. His primary focuses are orthopedics, sports medicine, post surgical rehab, integrative dry needling, and foot orthotics.
He is certified in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) Level 1 and David Graston's Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM), Dry Needling (CIDN) through Dr. Ma's Integrative Dry Needling Institute, and is a Credentialed Clinical Instructor through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Justin received his BS in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University, and his Master and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill. During his Doctoral studies, Justin learned how to fabricate custom foot orthotics under the mentorship of Michael Gross, PT, Ph.D., FAPTA. Dr. Gross is the leading researcher at UNC-Chapel Hill in the efficacy of foot orthotics in the treatment of lower extremity disorders.
Over the past 17 years, Justin has become an expert in the treatment of foot and ankle disorders such as plantar fasciitis and continues to use his knowledge of orthotics to determine the best plan of care for his patients.
Originally from Charlotte, NC, Justin grew up playing multiple sports including basketball, baseball, and football. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire from competitive sports after graduate school because of multiple orthopedic injuries he sustained throughout his early adulthood.
His passion and enthusiasm of sports continue to live on by rehabilitating sports-related injuries. This passion has led Justin to team up with Crossfit RDU, where he works alongside their staff to maintain and restore athletes to their maximal level of performance and minimize injury.
Outside of work, Justin enjoys watching sports, traveling and exploring new places with his wife and children, exercising, watching Netflix, and socializing with friends.
